WOODSTOCK'S LATEST: IT'S A "CHALLENGE"

The government of Oneida County, N.Y., continues to have conversations with Woodstock 50 organizers and the new potential site of the Vernon Downs Casino and race track, but they have issues.

"With such a short timeframe, the logistical hurdles to ensure the public health and safety of the concert goers and the surrounding community could pose a significant challenge,” County Executive Anthony Picente said in a statement, noting they were collectively reviewing the health and safety requirements for the 1999 Woodstock event that drew nearly 500,000 people.

Vernon Downs officials have said the maximum the venue can hold is 65,000 people, a far cry from the 400,000 who attended the original and 150,000 that were projected for Watkins Glen.

With just over six weeks until the scheduled three-day fest, the ticking of the clock is getting mighty loud.
