U.K. CHARTS: BRUCE ADDS 11TH #1

Bruce Springsteen has claimed his 11th #1 on the U.K’s Official Albums Chart with Western Stars (Columbia) shifting 25k combined sales more than Madonna’s Madame X (Polydor), which settles for second place.

Of Springsteen’s total sales—a number which the OCC hasn’t published—more than 50k were on CD and vinyl, making Western Stars this year’s fastest selling album on physical formats in the U.K.

Bastille’s Doom Days (Virgin) is new at #4, followed by a 40th anniversary reissue of Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures (Rhino) at #5. The album previously peaked at #71 in 1980 following the death of lead singer Ian Curtis.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart, Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber spend a sixth week at the top with “I Don’t Care” (Atlantic). Taylor Swift has the highest new entry at #5 with “You Need to Calm Down” (Virgin EMI), while Stormzy’s “Vossi Bop” (Merky/Atlantic) rises two places to #2 ahead of his Glastonbury headline performance next week. Little Mix’s “Bounce Back” (Syco) is also new at #10.

“No Guidance” (RCA) by Chris Brown f/Drake climbs two places to #6, which is the first of three entries for Drake in today’s Top 40 following the release of his The Best in the World Pack EP. “Money In The Grave” f/Rick Ross (Island) starts at #13 and “Omertà” is #33.
