Word has it another Billboard chart rule may affect the Jonas Brothers’ total on this week’s chart, on which they’ll have a decisive #1.
We’re told that the JoBros are on track to do as much as 340-360k in total activity in their debut week. Their new Republic album, Happiness Begins, is bundled with tickets for their giant tour; the rule is a maximum four tickets/albums per transaction. But some of the bundle packages offer eight tickets with albums attached. So some ticket bundles may end up being excluded. We hasten to add that this will not change the Jonas lads’ #1 chart position, only their total. Still, since they’re in the running for top debut of the year and need at least 360k to knock labelmate Ariana Grande off that perch, it’s not irrelevant.
Still, without a battle for #1, there won’t be nearly as much drama surrounding the Bible’s rule as there was around the Tyler-Khaled contest—the chart story that won’t go away. How long, though, before the ticket limit is once again the difference between a #1 and #2 debut?
