CAPALDI CROSSING

U.K. phenom Lewis Capaldi's “Someone You Loved” (Vertigo Berlin/Capitol), already a huge hit in U.K., is now starting to connect stateside. The buzz is real.

Globally, the song’s #9 at Spotify and #3 at Shazam. For the minimal exposure it's had in the U.S., meanwhile, it's seriously overperforming. The stats below gain considerably more weight when you consider how early we are in Capaldi's American chapter.

"Someone" is now #37 Spotify, #21 Shazam and #41 iTunes domestically. At radio, it's #18 at Hot AC and about to chart at Pop; it’s secured real listeners in NYC, L.A. and other major markets and a total audience north of 50m so far.

The tender ballad (with a tearjerker video that's earned 30.2m+ views) showcases the Scottish troubadour's sincerity, but his dry, self-deprecating humor and studiously unglamorous style also set him apart from the pack. Of course, it doesn't get much more unglamorous than appearing on this website.

Keep your eye on this one.
