WOODSTOCK 50 ALLOWED TO PROCEED

Woodstock 50 can proceed, a New York judge has ruled, but the financiers who pulled the plug on their participation are being allowed to keep their $17.8m. The promoters say the three day festival will indeed take place.

New York Supreme Court Judge Barry Ostrager ruled that Dentsu Aegis did not have the right to cancel the festival, which they did in early May when they withdrew nearly $18m from the account that was set up for Woodstock 50.

It leaves Woodstock 50’s Michael Lang and his team with the rights to put on a show 8/16-18 in Watkins Glen, N.Y., as planned, but they need to find a new funding source.

Lang issued a statement on the festival’s Facebook page that read, “We have always relied on the truth and have never lost faith that the Festival would take place. I would like to thank all of the talent and their representatives for their patience and support. Woodstock 50 will be an amazing and inspiring festival experience.”
