WOMEN DOMINATE AMERICANA NOMS

John Prine is up for Album and Song of the Year at the 18th annual Americana Honors & Awards while four women—Brandi Carlile, Rhiannon Giddens, Kacey Musgraves and Mavis Staples—will contend for Artist of the Year.

The winners will be announced 9/11 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville during AMERICANAFEST, which runs 9/10-15.

“Each of these musicians has constantly pushed the creative envelope, as evidenced by their musical contributions from this past year,” said Jed Hilly, Executive Director of the Americana Music Association. “That said, it’s no surprise that these nominees and their art have resonated within our community.”
