iHeartMedia has struck its first partnership with a broadcast TV network to produce a companion podcast with a TV series. NBC and iHeartMedia will coproduce NBC’s Songland Podcast, the official aftershow podcast that will accompany the songwriting competition series.
Launching today with the first of four pre-premiere podcasts, regular episodes will go live every Tuesday beginning 5/28 after the show airs. The podcast will be promoted on NBC during each Songland TV episode and special podcast vignettes will also air across iHeartMedia’s broadcast stations
In Songland, four aspiring songwriters will compete to have their song chosen by a guest star recording artist, and be aided by a panel that includes Ryan Tedder, Ester Dean and Shane McAnally.
The iHeart brass preparing to be honored by the UJA—Bob Pittman, John Sykes, Rich Bressler and Tom Poleman—are hoping the podcast will delve into the intricacies of klezmer music.
