Columbia/Legacy will release on 6/7 a 14-CD set of Bob Dylan’s 1975 tour to accompany the film Rolling Thunder Revue – A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese that will premiere on Netflix on 6/12.
The Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1975 Live Recordings includes all five of Dylan’s full sets from that tour that were professionally recorded plus rehearsals at New York's S.I.R. studios and the Seacrest Motel in Falmouth, Mass., and DVD of performances.
The collection features 148 tracks, 100 of which have never been released. Concurrent with box set release will be a reissue of The Bootleg Series Volume 5 as a 3LP set with a 64-page booklet. Pre-orders have begun.
The legendary Rolling Thunder Revue was famous for having a revolving cast of musicians who would play playing small and unusual venues with little advance notice. The shows were long—more than four hours—as Dylan was debuting songs from his upcoming album Desire, which featured his opus “Hurricane.”
The entourage included Allen Ginsberg, Joni Mitchell, T Bone Burnett, Mick Ronson, Joan Baez and Ramblin’ Jack Elliott.
