U.K. CHARTS: BILLIE BREAKS RECORDS

Billie Eilish has become the youngest female solo act to top the Official Albums Chart with When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? (Polydor) shifting 48k combined sales. Over on singles, she’s also got the highest new entry at #2 with “Bad Guy.”

Eilish, 17, has claimed the youngest female record by being just over two months younger than Joss Stone was when she reached the top with her second album in 2004. When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? is also the biggest debut album from an international artist to top the Official Chart since Lana Del Rey’s Born To Die in January 2012.

The rest of today’s Official Albums Top 5 is three records moving up one slot each: The Greatest Showman (Atlantic) moves up to #2; Tom Walker’s What a Time to Be Alive (Relentless) is #3; George Ezra’s Staying at Tamara’s (Columbia) is #4; and Queen rises to #5 with Bohemian Rhapsody OST (Virgin).

New entries include Devin Townsend’s Empath (InsideOutMusic) at #23 and Unkle’s The Road: Part II (Lost Highway) (Songs for the Def) at #33.

On the Official Singles Chart, Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved” (Virgin EMI) spends a sixth week at #1, finishing 9k combined sales ahead of “Bad Guy.” That’s one of three tracks from Eilish in today’s Top 20; “Bury a Friend” rises 14 places to #6 and “Wish You Were Gay” is up 29 to #13.

Production trio Meduza f/Goodboys’ “Piece of Your Heart” (Polydor) rises 22 places to #10, Coventry rapper Jay1 debuts at #19 with “Your Mrs” (Parlophone) and Westlife's new single, “Better Man” (Virgin EMI), starts at #26.
