Visuals once again help drive new and old songs up the Shazam USA Top 100 as a new video pumps up a 2 Chainz track and a film and two TV shows revive others.
2 Chainz f/Ariana Grande’s “Rule the World” (Gamebread/Def Jam) is the week’s greatest gainer following the release last week of a video that has been viewed more than 9m times at YouTube.
The film Triple Frontier and NBC’s The Blacklist got thumbs a-wagging, pushing up interest in Metallica’s 1984 cut “For Whom the Bell Tolls” (Blackened) and CCR’s #4 hit from 1970, “Run Through the Jungle” (Fantasy), respectively.
The two songs are also grabbing the ears of U.K. Shazamers as are a James Hype & Craig David track and a classic from Keane that Kacey Musgraves has been covering.
Back in the States, Lil Wayne’s September release “Mess” (YMCMB) lands on the leader board after a sync on Showtime’s Shameless. The newest track among the Top 5 movers is the latest from Marshmello, “Here With Me” (Republic), which features CHVRCHES.
