 U.K. CHART: IT'S TOM WALKER'S TIME

Tom Walker has gone straight in at #1 in the U.K. with his debut album, What a Time to Be Alive (Relentless), on 37k combined sales—truly earning his BRITs British Breakthrough win after becoming the first act with a debut album to chart at the top in nearly two years.

64% of Walker's sales tally comes from physical retail, and he beat Bryan Adams' Shine a Light (Polydor) to the top of the Official Albums Chart; Adams ends the week at #2.

Further down, Hozier is also one of 12 albums breaking into the Top 40 today as his Wasteland, Baby! (Island) lands at #6.

Solange is new at #18 with When I Get Home (RCA), So What by Sheffield metalcore band While She Sleeps (Spinefarm), their fourth Top 40 album, comes in at #21, and Irish folk legend Daniel O’Donnell’s The Gold Collection (DMG TV) goes in at #23.

The death of The Prodigy’s frontman Keith Flint last Monday means three of the band’s albums make a Top 40 return, headed up by Their Law: The Singles (XL) at #13, then The Fat of the Land at #26, while recent #1 No Tourists rebounds to #35.

On the Official Singles Chart, another new British act, Lewis Capaldi, holds onto #1 with “Someone You Loved” (Virgin EMI) for a second week. The track finishes 6k combined sales ahead of “Giant” (Columbia) by Calvin Harris and Rag’n’Bone Man, which is the most downloaded track.

Mabel overtakes Ariana Grande by rising two places to #3 thanks to single “Don’t Call Me Up” (Polydor), and this week’s highest new entry comes from the Jonas Brothers' latest confection, “Sucker” (Polydor), at #6—their first ever U.K. Top 10 single.
