“Sucker” by Republic’s Jonas Brothers crushed at Pop radio on impact with north of 250 adds, debuting at #30 Pop and #32 Hot AC with just a few days of airplay, and is a missile headed for #1. The single was #1 Most Added at Pop and Hot AC.
The story marks a landmark for the grown-up lad band; as popular as the JoBros have been, they’ve never had a proper hit before. Their biggest Top 40 single prior to “Sucker” was “Burnin’ Up,” which peaked at #12 at Top 40 in 2008. Radio always claimed the group and its fans were too young to call out. Of course, those fans have grown into the format’s core demo and their enthusiasm for all things Jonas is clearly undimmed. “Sucker” is also #1 at Spotify, Apple Music and iTunes.
But none of this would’ve been possible without an A-level radio and marketing team. EVP Promo Gary Spangler, EVP/GM Jim Roppo and their able squads have delivered every level, and it would seem they’re just getting started.
