MORRISSEY HEADS TO BROADWAY

Morrissey will play seven shows at Broadway’s Lunt-Fontanne Theater ahead of the release of his covers collection, California Son (Étienne Records/BMG).

Morrissey’s Broadway show, which starts on 5/2, will cover his early days in The Smiths up through the songs of the ‘60s and ‘70s on California Son, which comes out 5/24.

Among the covers on the album are Joni Mitchell’s “Don’t Interrupt the Sorrow,” Bob Dylan’s “Only a Pawn in Their Game,” Tim Hardin’s “Lenny’s Tune” and Bacharach & David’s “Loneliness Remembers What Happiness Forgets.” Billie Joe Armstrong and Lydia Night of The Regrettes join him on Laura Nyro’s “Wedding Bell Blues,” Sameer Gadhia of Young The Giant duets on Phil Ochs’ “Days of Decision” and Petra Haden sings on Carly Simon’s “When You Close Your Eyes.”

Morrissey’s dates at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater are 5/2-4, 7, 8, 10 and 11.
