Ariana Grande’s thank u, next (Republic), as expected, shoots straight to #1 at iTunes and topping Apple Music as well this flipover Friday. But she’s also got a new song making its way up the chart rapidly.
“break up with you’re girlfriend, I’m bored” has zoomed to #2 Friday morning following the release of a video for the song, leapfrogging previous iTunes chart-topper "Swallow." The Chainsmokers & 5 Seconds of Summer’s collab, “Who Do You Love” (Disruptor/Columbia), released Thursday, has taken over #1. "break up" joins “7 rings” in the Top 10 at iTunes, while on the streaming side, “NASA” and “needy” are leading the charge. The clean version of the album is #3 at iTunes, #10 at Apple Music.
As we head into Grammy weekend, the new arrivals bin is pretty thin. Wiz Khalifa & Curren$y’s 2009 (Jet Life/Atlantic) is #6 at iTunes and #27 at Apple Music; Practice What I Preach (American Roots) from country signer Jacob Bryant is #8; and Meghan Trainor’s six-song EP The Love Train (Epic)is #10. Michael Bolton and Bob Mould have new albums just outside the Top 10 as do Sister Hazel and Emarosa.
