GRAMMY HALL ADDS STACKS O' WAX
Dolly Parton’s “Coat of Many Colors,” Link Wray’s “Rumble” and Jackson Browne’s debut album are among the 25 new inductees to the Grammy Hall Of Fame.
The hall recognizes recordings at least 25 years old that exhibit qualitative or historical significance.
The oldest this year is the 1908 recording of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" by Edward Meeker with The Edison Orchestra, the newest being Tom Petty’s 1989 album Full Moon Fever. The list includes records by Leonard Cohen, Charlie Parker, Jaco Pastorius, Aerosmith and The Troggs.
Each year recordings are reviewed by a special member committee from all branches of the recording arts, with final approval by the Recording Academy's National Board of Trustees. The Hall, now in its 46th year, has 1,088 recordings and is on display at The Grammy Museum.
