“Shallow” from A Star Is Born has won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture. Lady Gaga and Mark Ronson accepted the award (co-presented by Taylor Swift). What does this portend for the song’s Grammy and Oscar chances? Stay tuned.
Music featured prominently in the Motion Picture, Drama category, as Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody was the champion, and star Rami Malek was rewarded with the Actor gong for his turn as Freddie Mercury. Manager Jim "Miami" Beach joined Malek and members of the band in accepting the award for the film.
(It just so happens that Star was, as of 1/7, once again the #1 album at iTunes and "Shallow" the #2 song while the Queen anthology The Platinum Collection is the Top 5 album and "Bohemian Rhapsody" a Top 15 song. Coincidence? Or movie magic?)
Composer Justin Hurwitz, meanwhile, took the Original Score trophy for First Man.
