SUMMING UP A YEAR OF STREAMING

Drake and Dua Lipa are the most-streamed artists in the U.K. in 2018 to date, according to Spotify, while Ed Sheeran is the top British act globally. Over at Apple Music, The Greatest Showman is the best-selling album. At both services, Universal and Warner rule.

The streaming companies have issued best sellers lists in the U.K. for 2018, which naturally crossover. However, while The Greatest Showman (Atlantic) rules Apple Music’s album chart, it doesn’t appear in Spotify’s Top 5. Ed Sheeran is the only Brit in Spotify’s most streamed artist list (and he's #5 globally), but homegrown acts Lipa, Jess Glynne and Anne-Marie are some of the most popular female artists, while George Ezra and Rudimental appear elsewhere. Lipa is also the second most streamed female artist globally.

In Spotify’s top 5 most streamed artists, tracks and albums for the U.K., Universal and Warner have eight entries apiece and Sony has four. In Apple’s list of best-selling albums, there are five British entries, and three in songs. Universal rules the albums list with five in the top 10, followed by Warner with three and Sony with two. At singles, UMG rules again with four, Warner has three, Sony has two and BMG has one. The lists are below for your viewing pleasure.
