Warner Music Group topper Steve Cooper has brought in Oana Ruxandra to help attract non-traditional partners and identify unconventional M&A opportunities in the newly created position of EVP, New Business Channels–Chief Acquisition Officer.
Ruxandra, who reports directly to Cooper, will collaborate with WMG’s digital strategy and business development team, and work with teams and initiatives across the company. A former VP of Digital Strategy and Business Development at WMG, she joined Universal Music Group as SVP of Digital Strategy and Partnerships in 2016.
“Working with talented people across our business, Oana will seek out a wide range of partners who will help us create original, forward-thinking opportunities for our company, our artists, and our songwriters,” Cooper said. “She’s from a new, diverse generation of entertainment executives, and brings a combination of digital experience, strategic thinking, and practical business expertise to her new role.”
Ruxandra said, “WMG is on a mission to provide a broad, open, and inclusive environment where independent thinkers and leading-edge companies can realize their visions, well beyond the scope of a traditional music company.”
