It’s official: Mike Chester is joining Warner Bros. Records as EVP Promo; he’ll be based in the label’s L.A. office and will report to Co-Chairman/COO Tom Corson.
The well-liked Chester most recently served as SVP Marketing/Promo for Scooter Braun’s SB Projects, where he worked with Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and other key acts on the company’s roster. He previously spent a decade in promo at IDJ/Def Jam.
“Over the past two decades, Mike has played a central role in breaking countless hit records and building the careers of a string of iconic artists,” Corson declared, describing Chester as “one of the most accomplished and respected people in our business.”
For his part, Chester said, “I’m thrilled to be joining this iconic label and the incredible promotion department at such an exciting time in the company’s evolution,” and expressed his thanks to Corson and Co-Chairman/CEO Aaron Bay-Schuck “for this wonderful new opportunity.” He added, “I look forward to many ‘hey buddy’ jokes in HITS, although everyone knows that my preferred greeting to radio professionals is ‘Yo, bruh.’”
Mike looks forward to meeting Daffy Duck, and to exploring the many sights and sounds of Burbank while uttering the immortal phrase, “Hey, where’d everybody go?”
