Ariana Grande's official video for “thank u, next” has set a record for biggest music video debut in YouTube history. In its first 24 hours, it was viewed more than 50m times, topping the 45.9m views BTS’s “IDOL” received.
The video, released Friday by the Republic artist, also broke Vevo’s 24-hour view-count record.
"This video continues a string of immensely creative visual work that Ariana has released on our platform this year,” said JP Evangelista, Vevo Head Content, Programing & Marketing. “Each video has been meticulously crafted and has had a brilliant lead up campaign. Ariana and Hannah Lux Davis' entertaining work now joins the ranks of some of our most successful videos of all time.”
Monday morning, the video was up to 90m views.
