Def Jam's developing new artist Arlissa is a British singer-songwriter with some serious chops, collaborating with Nas ("Hard To Love Somebody"), writing a hit for BTS ("Spring Day") and most recently, crafting music for film.
Arlissa currently has a powerful song in the climatic scene to the Black Lives Matter-themed film The Hate U Give, based upon the NY Times best selling novel by Angie Thomas.
Called "We Won't Move," the track is currently on the short list for both Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for Best Original Song. It was produced by Kevin White and Mike Woods of Rice N Peas and co-written by Jessica “Harloe” Karpov.
Arlissa performed it live at the film's international premiere during the 2018 Toronto Film Festival.
She is currently working on her upcoming debut album for Def Jam, with contributors reported to include Lostboy, Digital Farm Animals, Malay, Andre Harris, Carmen Reece and more.
