TAYLOR GETS POLITICAL (UPDATE)

For the first time in her life, Taylor Swift has offered a political opinion. She’s standing up for candidates who support LGBTQ rights, fight discrimination and racism, and back the women’s movement.

In in Sunday Instagram post, Swift revealed that she’ll be voting for Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for the House of Representatives. Remarkably, since she raised her voice, voter registrations have exploded.

“We are up to 65,000 registrations in a single 24-hour period since T. Swift’s post,” Kamari Guthrie, Director of Communications for Vote.org, revealed in an interview with Buzzfeed.

It’s a massive spike. By contrast, 190,178 voters registered on the site during September—that averages around 6k a day.

“Thank God for Taylor Swift,” Guthrie said.

Also reacting to her endorsements was POTUS, who said that he now likes Taylor's music 25% less. The prevailing belief is that she'll be able to survive this Trumpian expression of displeasure.

In her post, Swift asked her followers to “please educate yourself on the candidates running in your state and vote based on who most closely represents your values. For a lot of us, we may never find a candidate or party with whom we agree 100% on every issue, but we have to vote anyway.”

And as the post informs us, Tennessee is not particularly voter-friendly. The cut-off to register is Tuesday.
