HITS HIGH FIVE: WAITING FOR LODESTAR

While we search for the lodestar of the HITS office, perhaps we might interest you in a recap of the week’s highlights? Most written anonymously, of course.

The big news was the surprise drop from Eminem to kick off the Labor Day weekend. On its way to sales of more than 400koriginal projections were around 300k—Eminem's Kamikaze had a peak position of #1 on the iTunes Charts in 102 countries and in the U.K., he became the only international artist with nine consecutive #1 albums. Our critic finds that Em is “mimicking, flipping, then absolutely nuking every modern millennial flow that we currently know.” 

Caroline’s  Jacqueline Saturn has a brand-new title: President. She continues to lead Caroline’s 50-person U.S. team and oversee all aspects of its business, including artist and label signings and partnerships.

Jay-Z will present Warner/Chappell MusicChairman and CEO Jon Platt with the Spirit of Life award at the City of Hope gala on 10/11.

To promote his new Capitol set, Egypt Station, Paul McCartney will perform a live streaming concert on his YouTube channel tonight. 

It was a week that saw a lot of people get new jobs. Jen Mallory was officially anointed EVP/GM of Columbia Records; Carolyn Williams was promoted to EVP Marketing at RCA; and Vevo  made Alan Price its CEO. In the U.K., Stacey Tang became Managing Director at RCA Katie White joined Atlantic Records as General Manager; and Warner/Chappell’s Carianne Marshall tapped Rich Robinson to run its new Creative Services department.
