WELCOME TO THE MACHINE, JON BORRIS
As we indicated would be the case a month ago, promo player Jon Borris has officially joined Big Machine Label Group team as SVP Promo. The announcement was made via BMLG promo partner Republic, in the NYC offices of which Borris will be based. He'll be working promising acts like Taylor Swift, Florida Georgia Line and Thomas Rhett, among others.
Borris joins BMLG/Republic after nearly two decades in the Sony system, most recently as head of Pop Promo for Columbia.
He praised BMLG boss Scott Borchetta's "entrepreneurial spirit" and the "extraordinary work" of Republic's Monte and Avery Lipman and Gary Spangler on behalf of their acts.
Borchetta hailed Borris as "just the right person to propel our Big Machine releases to the next level."
Rumors that Jon's desk will be right next to the board breaking down how many adds gets you the Cadillac and how many gets you the set of steak knives couldn't be confirmed at presstime.
