U.K. CHARTS: ARIANA SCORES SECOND #1

Ariana Grande has indeed secured a second #1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart, with Sweetener (Island) shifting 45k combined sales. Over on singles, Calvin Harris & Sam Smith have the highest new entry at #4 with “Promises” (Columbia).

Behind Grande, the rest of the Top 5 is a reshuffle of last week: Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (Polydor) at #2, The Greatest Showman soundtrack (Atlantic) at #3, George Ezra with Staying at Tamara’s (Columbia) at #4 and Drake’s Scorpion (Island) at #5.

The second-highest new album is Bugzy Malone at #6 with B.Inspired (Warner), followed by London singer-songwriter Gabrielle with Under My Skin (BMG) at #7. Punk duo Slaves have ended the week at #8 with third album, Acts of Fear and Love (Virgin EMI).

Further down, three Aretha Franklin albums are back in the Top 40 as fans pay tribute. Soul Queen (Warner) is at #15, 30 Greatest Hits at #16 and Respect – The Very Best Of at #27. On the Official Singles Chart, “I Say A Little Prayer” is at #51, “Respect” at #63 and “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” at #79. All in all, Franklin’s catalog has notched up 10.1m U.K. audio streams this week.

Elsewhere on singles, George Ezra is #1 for a fourth week with “Shotgun." It had a lead of 3k combined sales and was the most-streamed song with 7m plays.

Aside from “Promises” at #4, the rest of the Top 5 contains Drake’s “In My Feelings” at #2, “Eastside” (Virgin EMI) by Benny Blanco f/Halsey at #3 and “Body” (AATW) by Loud Luxury f/Brando at #5.

Grande has the second-highest new entry with “breathin” at #8, and Jess Glynne follows at #16 with “All I Am” (Atlantic), “Sweetener” by Grande is at #22 and The 1975’s latest single “TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME” (Dirty Hit/Polydor) starts at #26.

David Guetta and Anne-Marie are this week’s highest climbers, rising 14 places to #23 with “Don’t Leave Me Alone” (Parlophone).
