U.K. MIDWEEKS: ARIANA SCORES CAREER-BEST WEEK

Ariana Grande is set for her second #1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart with Sweetener (Island) shifting 26k combined sales so far. Over on singles, Calvin Harris & Sam Smith have the highest new midweek entry at #5 with “Promises” (Columbia), while tribute-paying fans have Aretha Franklin making an impact on the Top 40.

In the first three days of release, Sweetener has already eclipsed the first-week sales of 2016’s Dangerous Woman, and is the fastest seller of Grande's career in Blighty. Last week’s #1, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (Polydor), is 15k sales behind at #2.

Bugzy Malone is currently the second highest new entry at #5 with B.Inspired (Warner), while punk duo Slaves are new at #6 with third album, Acts of Fear and Love (Virgin EMI). London singer-songwriter Gabrielle could be set for her first Top 10 in 14 years this week with Under My Skin (BMG) starting at #7.

Over on singles, George Ezra is heading toward a fourth non-consecutive week at #1 with “Shotgun” (Columbia), while Drake stays at #2 with “In My Feelings” (Island).

“Eastside” (Virgin EMI) by Benny Blanco f/Halsey moves up one place to #3, and “Body” (AATW) by Loud Luxuryf/Brando is up two to #4.

Behind “Promises,” Grande has the second highest new entry with “Breathin.” Jess Glynne follows at #15 with “All I Am” (Atlantic), “Sweetener” by Grande at #19 and The 1975’s latest single “TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME” (Dirty Hit/Polydor) at #20.

Further down, Franklin is back in the Top 40 with “I Say a Little Prayer” (Atlantic) at #22 and “Respect” at #33.
