SONGWRITERS HALL LOOKING CHIC

Nile Rodgers is the new Chairman of the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The 2016 Hall of Fame inductee will serve a three-year term, following the run of Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff.

“Nile is respected and admired by his fans and his peers alike for his multi/cross-genre music and for being a musical pioneer,” said SHOF President and CEO Linda Moran. “More importantly, Nile’s eloquence in talking about songwriting and its process makes him the ideal voice for the songwriting community as Chairman of the SHOF.”

The SHOF Board of Directors voted in Rodgers at the annual board meeting. Officers elected include Senior Vice President David Israelite, Secretary Mary Jo Mennella and Deputy Secretary April Anderson; Randy Grimmett was elected to the Board of Directors.

"I am truly honored and beyond humbled to be elected by such an esteemed group as this illustrious board,” said Rodgers, whose first album in 25 years with Chic, It’s About Time, will be released 9/14. “I will try and serve with all my heart. I hope I can make you half as proud of me as I am to even sit in the room with you who've done so much for the furtherance of composition.”
