OSTROFF TO OVERSEE SPOTIFY CONTENT

Respected TV executive Dawn Ostroff has been named Chief Content Officer at Spotify, coming over from Condé Nast, where she served as President of Entertainment.

She’ll be based in the New York office and will lead all aspects of Spotify’s content partnerships across music, audio and video. Spotify made the announcement in a three-sentence statement on its blog.

Ostroff helped found Condé Nast Entertainment in 2011. The unit is a “next-generation studio and distribution network” that creates digital video, social and VR content based on the publisher’s titles. It produces about 5,000 videos per month.

At CNE, Ostroff has produced feature films (Only the Brave, Old Man and the Gun) and series for outlets such as Netflix (Last Chance U). Prior to CNE, she was President of The CW, where her successes included Gossip Girl and Vampire Diaries. Ostroff held the same title at UPN, where she developed America’s Next Top Model, after serving as EVP of Entertainment at Lifetime.

Spotify has lost several major executives this year, most recently Mark Williamson, the L.A.-based Global Head of Artist and Industry Partnerships, and George Ergatoudis, the London-based head of music culture, international shows and editorial. Global Head of Artist and Label Marketing Dave Rocco left in April.
