TAG THEY'RE IT: SHAZAM'S BIGGEST MOVERS

Two songs from the late XXXTentacion rise up the Shazam USA Top 100 as does an obscurity from outsider pop-rocker Daniel Johnston. But it’s Jay-Z and Beyonce who are connecting the most with the app-using listeners.

The Carters’ “Apeshit” (Roc Nation/Parkwood/Columbia) climbs to #18 in the week following the release of the single and music video shot at the Louvre, making them the week’s greatest gainer.

Leading XXXTentacion’s charge is “Changes” (Bad Vibes Forever), up 154 slots to #47, followed by the song that has dominated streaming and sales charts, “Sad!,” which is up 132 slots to #24.

An Apple advertisement—the one that includes Grimes and other artists working on their Macs—has pushed Johnston’s “Story of an Artist,” originally released in 1982 on Eternal Yip Eye, onto the list of Top 5 greatest gainers.

The tracks from Johnston, XXXTentacion and the Carters are among the 20 greatest gainers in the U.K. but it is the ITV2 relationship show Love Island that’s getting the greatest attention of thumbs. James Blake’s “Retrograde” from 2013, Rothwell’s “Velvet Heart” and Rollie Ritchie’s “Bloodspot ‘15” are the biggest movers on the Shazam U.K. Top 100 chart thanks to placements on the series.
