APPLE GRANTS LIMITED SIRI SUPPORT FOR THIRD PARTY APPS LIKE SPOTIFY

At Apple's Worldwide Developer's Conference (WWDC), plans were announced to make it easier for non-Apple Music users to play music via third-party apps.

Per TechCrunch: "The integrations would operate much less seamlessly than controls for Apple Music through Siri, but you would theoretically be able to direct Siri on the iPhone or HomePod to a designated playlist or artist on a service like Spotify, functionality that was previously not possible."

Although users have to create their own Siri shortcut to utilize the feature, Apple's opening up accessibility to its competitors (Spotify) shows its willingness to give up preferential treatment to Apple products in hopes of creating a better music listening experience for iPhone and HomePod users.

In other words, despite the enormous growth in the service segment of Apple's business, gizmos still come first. For now, at least. The tweeted video below will show some of you how to make use of this new development, will others, like us, will stare at it like a caveman who just fell out of a time machine.
