CHART STORY:
MENDES MANIA

Shawn Mendes’ much-anticipated third studio album, Shawn Mendes, has officially debuted at #1 on the HITS Top 50 Chart, moving more than 182k and making former Island topper David Massey’s swan song all the sweeter.

The next-biggest bow belongs to RCA’s A$AP Rocky, whose Testing enters at #3 with approximately 74k. Pusha T’s Kanye-produced (and Drake-dissing) Daytona (G.O.O.D./Def Jam) follows at #4, appearing with 72k. As for the remaining, noteworthy new releases, Juice WRLD’s Goodbye & Good Riddance (Grade A/Interscope) comes in at #9 with 40k, while CHVRCHESLove Is Dead (Glassnote) can be found at #11 with 27k.

When it comes to marketshare, UMG is #1 with 65%, SME follows with 16% and WMG is #3 with 15%, while the indies claim 4%. Streeting this week are albums by G.O.O.D./Def Jam’s Kanye West, Loma Vista’s Ghost, Owl City’s Owl City and Sub Pop’s Father John Misty, as well as a deluxe edition from River House/Columbia Nashville’s Luke Combs.

In other news, following Yeezy’s album release event in Jackson Hole, WY, wonderers are wondering if Drake will throw one in Saskatoon. And will there be poutine?
