CHART STORY: POST AND P!NK GO HEAD TO HEAD

Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys (Republic) spends its third week atop the HITS Top 50 Chart, raking in another 150k. His RTD should be north of 1.6m once the stream-heavy singles that broke records prior to the album’s drop are factored in.

Powered by ticket redemptions attached to her latest round of tour dates, RCA’s P!nk flies to #2 on the chart. 2017 set Beautiful Trauma re-enters, tacking a whopping 139k onto its total.

AWGE/Interscope’s Playboi Carti can celebrate having the biggest bow this week, as Die Lit comes in at #3 with more than 60k. Charlie Puth’s Voicenotes (Artist Partner/Atlantic) debuts at #4 with just under 60k, while Arctic MonkeysTranquility Base Hotel & Casino (Domino) enters at #8 with 46k.

The most noteworthy move is made by Michael Jackson’s Number Ones (Epic)—a hits compilation benefiting from a $5.99 sale at iTunes. That re-enters at #33.

When it comes to marketshare, UMG is once again #1 with 48%, WMG follows with 30% and SME is #3 with 17%, while the indies claim 5%.

Streeting this week are albums by Bighit’s BTS, Prospect Park’s Five Finger Death Punch, Republic’s James Bay, Stone Dwarf/RCA’s Ray LaMontagne, QC/Motown/Capitol’s Lil Baby, Mom+Pop’s Courtney Barnett and Sony Latin’s Maluma. There's also a handful of new soundtracks to keep an eye on: Atlantic’s Mean Girls (Original Broadway Cast Recording), Columbia’s Deadpool 2 and Interscope’s 13 Reasons Why: Season 2.

In other news, we’d like to inform you that HITS Editor in Chief Lenny Beer hears “Yanny,” while President Todd Hensley hears “Laurel.” Publisher Dennis Lavinthal was on vacation and unavailable for comment.
