KANYE'S IN-NO-WAY-ERRATIC MEDIA ADVENTURE:
THE SEQUEL

Remember our story from 4/24 saying Kanye West had gone off the rails on Twitter? Well, that weren't nothin'. Since then, Kanye has professed his love for President Trump and posted a pic of himself in a "Make America Great Again" hat (fully autographed, which he also showed off) and trolling with UMG boss Sir Lucian Grainge and YouTube's Lyor Cohen.

Trump chirped back to thank Kanye and pronounce his pro-Trump screed "very cool." There was more love for 'Ye in The Donald's phoner with Fox & Friends.

Kanye, meanwhile, invited TMZ and other other engines of the celeb/reality/gossip complex to hear his plans and dispute the claim that he'd gone off the rails. (TMZ Headline: "The Opposite of Erratic." The lady doth protest too much, methinks.) One bit of actual information that came out of these sessions: No Tidal exclusive is planned this time; the new music is expected to go wide on all DSPs. Not exactly a shocker, but slightly more valuable than Harvey Levin's take on the new tracks.

The overall response from Twitter users to this MAGA phase? Not good. Pop Crave claimed that the artist/producer/fashion designer/celebrity had shed 9.2m of his newly regained followers within 10 minutes of posting the pic with the red cap (he still has 27.8m as of this writing).

And by the end of the day, several prominent artists had unfollowed him, including Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, The Weeknd, Nicki Minaj, Jaden Smith, John Legend, Janelle Monae, as well as Justin Bieber, BTS, Harry Styles, Katy Perry and Ariana Grande.

Jordan Peele joked about being "inspired" to begin writing the Get Out sequel based on some of Ye's trippy tweets about his own "sunken place"...or was that low key shade?

It's hard to tell if Kanye is keenly aware, or just doesn't care, that relying on old tactics of chaos currency for the sake of personal fulfillment and gain has been the playbook of the Trump Presidency for the last fifteen months—and not only is a vast majority of the country weary of it— they're barely tolerant of it anymore.

Will this latest spewing backfire in a way it hadn't previously before, or will Kanye create a new wave of Red-State based support for himself? Perhaps the same way TV star Rosanne saw massive ratings success for taking a very similar stance in the return of her sitcom on ABC?

A master manipulator at times, this could be West's very goal at the end of the day.
