GRAMMYS TAKE THEIR MESSAGE TO D.C.

Little Big Town was among the recipients of Grammys on the Hill Awards held Wednesday in D.C.

It’s Grammys on the Hill Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C. and Neil Portnow is encouraging the music community to use social media to tell Congress to update music laws before the end of the year.

Today, more than 100 music professionals are visiting lawmakers to encourage the passing of the Music Modernization Act and usher in comprehensive reforms. To build support, the Recording Academy is asking people to tweet messages using #GRAMMYsOnTheHill.

Here’s the letter Neil sent out this morning:

Four years ago, I testified in front of Congress and outlined a vision for comprehensive music licensing reform. At the time, a comprehensive music licensing bill addressing the needs of all music creators seemed like an idealistic impossibility. Since then, thousands of Recording Academy members have galvanized a unified movement in support of holistic reform.

Our vision is close to a reality.

Just last week, the House Judiciary Committee introduced and unanimously approved the comprehensive Music Modernization Act, a critical step toward creating a fair era of music laws. Today, as the Recording Academy heads to Capitol Hill to fight on behalf of all music creators, we need your help, once again, to advance this vision.

Join us by visiting the Grammys on the Hill Action site: Let’s stand together to urge Congress to modernize music licensing laws to protect the livelihoods of all music makers and ensure a bright future for the next generation of creators.
