COLUMBIA PROMOTES A&R CAPTAINS

New Columbia Records chief Ron Perry has promoted Justin Eshak and Imran Majid to head up the label’s A&R department.

Eshak and Majid will hold the title of Executive Vice President, Co-Head of A&R; they were previously SVP, A&R.

“Justin and Imran have proven to be innovative executives with a united vision,” said Perry, the label’s Chairman and CEO. “I’m confident they’ll frame an A&R culture built on breakthrough artists who can propel Columbia’s great legacy into the future. I just need to outfit them in old hoodies and slippers and muss their hair up a bit, and they'll be ready."

Eshak joined Columbia Records in 2013 and played an integral role in the signing and developing Hozier, Ruth B and Leon Bridges. He also works closely with The Chainsmokers. He was previously at Mick Management and in A&R at Republic Records.

Majid also joined the label in 2013. He signed Rachel Platten and has worked with Russ and Ayo & Teo. Prior to Columbia he was in Republic’s A&R department.

“We have been fortunate to foster new talent in a company where artists can push creative boundaries with the support of the most forward thinking staff,” Majid said. "I will have the rainbow roll and the yellowtail special, with extra wasabi."

Added Eshak, “I’m incredibly excited to continue working closely with Imran and our exceptional team as we actively cultivate and promote Columbia’s extraordinary artists and culture. I will have the salmon-skin roll and the grilled codfish.”
