THE WEEKND'S MELANCHOLIC MOMENT

After just two days of teasing, The Weeknd's new six-song project, My Dear Melancholy, (XO/Republic), dropped Thursday night. Unsurprisingly, it immediately flew to #1 at iTunes.

"Starboy was the musical equivalent of a Hollywood blockbuster: action-packed, star-studded, with a little something for everyone," the iTunes review of the new set starts off. "Here, he returns to his unfiltered, art-house roots with a release so intimate and tortured, you'll feel like a fly on his bedroom wall."

Upon release, a vertical video for "Call Out My Name" appeared on Spotify's Today's Top Hits playlist, while one for "Try Me" showed up on Rap Caviar and Pop Rising.

His prior full-length, Starboy, bowed in late 2016 with 348k and has earned 2.4m RTD. The set broke Spotify streaming records shortly after its debut, for a time putting the artist born Abel Tesfaye ahead of even fellow Canadian Drake. At one point that December, he earned 41% of the total generated by the Top 50 on our Revenue Chart.

Stay tuned for more updates on sales and streams.
