XXXTentacion’s much-talked-about new release, ? (Bad Vibes Forever), has gone #1 on HITS’ Top 50 Chart, moving upwards of 133k. The set serves as a follow-up to his 2017 breakout, 17, which remains in the Top 30.
Scotty McCreery’s Seasons Change (Triple Tigers) has the second-largest bow this week, as it appears at #6 with about 43k. Meanwhile, The Decemberists’ I’ll Be Your Girl (Capitol) debuts at #11 with nearly 30k.
The big story, however, surrounds the Q-Prime-repped Metallica, whose two-year-old release Hardwired… To Self-Destruct (Blackened) soars #42-2 (up 450%) with 66k. This success can be attributed to the strength of another ticket bundle, now offered in the second leg of their tour. This is the fourth time it’s been the best-selling album on the chart.
On the other side of the biz, the stream kings of Migos rise back into the Top 5 with Quality Control/Motown/Capitol set Culture II. For perspective, “Stir Fry,” which was originally released as a single in December, is still #7 on the Song Revenue Chart, and 89% of the $110k generated this week came from streams.
When it comes to marketshare, UMG is #1 with 58%, WMG follows with 22% and SME is #3 with 18%, while the indies claim 2%.
Streeting this week is the third solo studio album from Third Man/Columbia’s Jack White, as well as the eighth from Def Jam’s Toni Braxton.
