DEF JAM PROMO MOVES: FARAG CUED UP AS CHIEF; SHEER, ROTHSCHILD UPPED

Def Jam has announced three key promotions in a major realignment of its promotion department, as Nicki Farag is upped to EVP Promotion and department head, Noah Sheer ascends to EVP, Rhythm & Lifestyle Promotion and Keith Rothschild moves up to SVP Promotion. The announcement was made by label boss Paul Rosenberg.

Farag, most recently SVP Promo, is a 15-year Def Jam veteran who previously served at Z100 New York, while Sheer (formerly SVP Rhythm/Crossover & Dance Promo) has been with the label for 18 years, having begun his career in 1998 at Arista. Rothschild, who’s been SVP Top 40 Promo since 2016, is a relative newbie, having joined the label in 2013 from IN2UNE.

“In the short time we’ve worked together,” Rosenberg proclaimed, “I have come to know [Farag, Sheer and Rothschild] as passionate, dedicated, energetic, top-notch executives. Their promotions are well-deserved and well-earned; and we are especially proud of Nicki’s new title and its historic significance to the label. Also, what does ‘Hey Buddy’ mean?”

“It’s my great honor to accept the role of EVP Promotion at Def Jam Recordings,” said Farag. “From assistant to EVP, in the span of 15 years at the same label, is an incredible milestone for me. And as the first woman in Def Jam’s 34-year history to earn the title, I would like to thank and recognize Paul Rosenberg for believing in me and paving the way for female executives at this company. I’m thrilled to continue to work with Noah Sheer and Keith Rothschild, both integral executives for Def Jam. They are reliable, resilient and masterminds at their jobs.”

“If you had told me when I graduated high school, that I’d end up landing a gig at Def Jam Recordings, I would have told you that you were crazy,” said Sheer. “I’m still pinching myself. This label, this team, these artists, we’ve accomplished so much, and to be able to contribute to this brand and the culture on a daily basis is nothing short of amazing.”

“It’s absolutely incredible,” added Rothschild, “that Nicki Farag, Noah Sheer and I started as regionals together and are now in senior leadership roles. I would like to congratulate Nicki and Noah and thank Paul Rosenberg for the opportunity to continue to break new artists and deliver hit records at this iconic and historic label. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to grind a P3 in Tuscaloosa.”
