CHART STORY: BOBBY GOES BOOM

Logic’s new mixtape, Bobby Tarantino II (Def Jam), has officially debuted at #1 on HITSTop 50 Chart, moving approximately 117k. It’s also worth noting that Logic has three songs in the Streaming Songs Chart Top 10, namely Logic & Marshmello’s “Everyday” (#7), “Contra” (#8) and “44 More” (#9); the rapper’s got 11 in that Top 30.

QC/Motown/Capitol’s Lil Yachty has the second-biggest bow overall with 64k for Lil Boat 2. As for other key new releases, David Byrne’s American Utopia (Nonesuch) comes in at #4 on the strength of a ticket bundle. while Judas Priest’s Firepower (Epic) and Experience Hendrix/Legacy’s Both Sides of the Sky—a collection of late-period Jimi Hendrix tracks—enter at #7 and #8 with 44k and 34k, respectively. Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night SweatsTearing at the Seams (Stax) can be found at #11.

The majority of Logic’s and Yachty’s totals come from streaming, while the opposite can be said for sales-heavy rock acts. Priest, Hendrix and Rateliff each collect over 90% of their totals from retail sales.

One of the most significant moves is made by Taylor Swift’s reputation (Big Machine/BMLG), which hops back into the Top 25 as latest single “Delicate” gets a shiny new video and prepares to chart at Top 40 radio.

When it comes to marketshare, UMG is #1 with 57%, WMG follows with 19% and SME is #3 with 18%, while the indies claim 6%.

Streeting this week are albums from Bad Vibes Forever’s XXXTentacion and Triple TigersScotty McCreery, along with RCA’s Love, Simon soundtrack. Also look for Metallica’s Hardwired… To Self-Destruct (Blackened) to re-enter high on the chart, thanks to the latest installment in their bundle saga.

In other news, it’s St. Patty’s Day Eve, so go ahead and drink ‘til you’re as green as your artificially colored beer. L’chaim!
