TIBET HOUSE CONCERT STRIKES TIMELY CHORD

The 31st Annual Tibet House U.S. Benefit Concert, scheduled for 3/3 at Carnegie Hall, seems especially timely during this pivotal moment, with the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements bringing unprecedented attention to the struggle for equality and human rights, on which the annual benefit has focused throughout its three-decade existence.

The Resistance Revival Chorus—inspired by the January 2017 Women’s March on Washington, who performed with Kesha at the Grammys—will be part of an impressive talent lineup that includes American musical treasure Carly Simon, Blood Orange (Dev Hynes), St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Rhiannon Giddens, Angel Olsen, Stephin Merritt from The Magnetic Fields, Tibetan singer Techung and Spanish band Los Vega. Philip Glass is the show’s artistic director.

Maggie Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard, Uma Thurman and Arden Wohl are Honorary Chairpersons.

For tickets (priced from $35 to $200), head to www.carnegiehall.org or call (212) 247-7800. Gala packages that include prime concert tickets and a dinner reception with the performers and “a who’s who of New York City society” can be yours starting at $500. These are available through www.tibethouse.us and by calling Tibet House U.S. at (212) 807-0563.
