Drake is still killing it with “God’s Plan,” which continues to rack up rarely seen numbers, while Migos is all over the Song Revenue Chart, with 14 cuts from the chart-topping Culture II. Fittingly, then, the week’s #2 earner was the Drake-featuring Migos track “Walk It Talk It,” one of three Culture II tracks to debut in the Top 10.
And speaking of rare occurrences, the leaderboard contains no less than five singles new to the chart. The other two are the Justin Timberlake-Chris Stapleton collab “Say Something,” riding the combined momentum of the two stars, and the ZEDD-Maren Morris-Grey team-up “The Middle,” still on a roll following its full-length appearance in that Grammy-night Target spot.
The other noteworthy story is the chart debut of the new single from Jason Aldean, bring a country song into the Top 15, with a third of its six-figure tally derived from streams. Is that a sign of things to come?
Given all of the above, it isn’t surprising to find that UMG’s weekly rev marketshare has gained 10 percentage points to 58%. SME, with 20%, has leapfrogged WMG, which has slipped to 18%, with the Indies up to 5%.
