SONY'S IN DA CLUB

Sony
is getting into the New York club business. Partnering with Blue Note Media Group that runs Manhattan’s Blue Note jazz club, Sony Hall will open in the spring in the theater district’s Paramount Hotel.

Sony Hall takes over the space previously known as Diamond Horseshoe. Blue Note will own, operate and program the venue with capacities of 1,000 standing and 500 seated. Sony technologies will be integrated throughout the 12,000 square-foot venue.

In addition, Sony will sponsor the annual Blue Note Jazz Festival in New York, scheduled for 6/1-30.

Midori Tomita, Sony Corp.’s VP in charge of UX Business Development, Brand Strategy, said the hall “will serve as a staging ground for recording content, testing new and exciting technology, promoting emerging artists, and more.”

Additional partnership plans between Sony and Blue Note will be announced in the coming months.

Besides Blue Note Jazz Clubs worldwide, Blue Note Entertainment Group owns and operates B.B. King Blues Club & Grill, Highline Ballroom and Lucille's Grill in New York.
