A HI-RES CES 2018

The Hi-Res Audio Pavilion at this year's CES featured a slew of Hi-Res audio devices and services to be rolled out this year. Sponsored by The Big Three in cooperation with A2IM, the RIAA, the Recording Academy Producers & Engineers Wing and DEG, the pavilion displayed a premium automotive music system from The Lincoln Motor Company with compatible phone technology. Ford has already announced it'll be the first manufacturer to integrate a Hi-Res system in future car models.

"The growing acceptance of Hi-Res Audio by music enthusiasts creates an opportunity for Lincoln" said Alan Norton of Ford Motor Company. "It enables us to demonstrate the capabilities of our Revel sound system in the most impactful way possible, while providing our customers with an incredible listening experience".

Hi-Res does look set for growth. According to an NPD report from last fall, Hi-Res device sales were up 77% in 2016. As the market for this kind of technology grows and becomes more accessible for everyday use, especially in vehicles, the demand looks likely to increase as well.

We're told it also helps if the music's good.
