BIG DEAL AND
BIG SCHLEMIEL

At the Association of Independent Music Publishers' 40th Anniversary shindig, Kenny MacPherson—whose Big Deal Music Group was honored as Indie Publisher of the Year—drank just enough Beaujolais to agree to a photo with our own Simon Glickman. Kenny regretted that decision almost immediately, as Simon insisted on busting out his song cycle about preparing haggis.

Kenny was presented with his award by hit songwriter Dan Wilson, who recalled a Grammy night in the past when Kenny sported a bright-red blazer to make it easier to spot him in the crowd. He's pretty easy to spot in the pic below with his Big Deal team; he's the one with the shiny new trophy.

Naturally, there were musical performances, not to mention drinks and banter and cake. A much-missed David Israelite (on daddy duty as his spouse was sent abroad on pressing government business) sent a video greeting.

Seen just after wishing for a scantily clad Scotsman to jump out of the cake and blowing out the candles are (l-r) peermusic's Kathy Spanberger, Steven Lowy, Esq., current AIMP President Michael Eames (of PEN Music Group, Inc.), Music Asset Management and Pulse Music Administration's Mary Jo Mennella, BMG's David Hirshland, Fox Music's Cathy Merenda and Richard Feldman of Artists First Music.

Meanwhile, in NYC...

AIMP's NY Chapter Board of Directors huddle against the cold. Seen just before Kobalt's Merni Wasserman-Serling and SONGS' Keith D'Arcy paid for everone's drinks are (l-r) Debbie Rose of Shapiro Bernstein & Co. AIMP NY Executive Director Alisa Coleman (ABKCO Music, Inc.), Atlas Music Publishing's Phil Cialdella, Julie Lipsius of Lipservices, Wasserman-Serling, D’Arcy, Mark Spier of Memory Lane Music Group, Joyce Dollinger, Esq., AIMP NY Treasurer Steve White, C.P.A. (Janover, LLC), Downtown Music Publishing's Andrew Bergman, AIMP NY Secretary Arthur Levy, Esq. (Spirit Music Group) and Michael Simon of Harry Fox Agency.
