U.K. CHARTS: NOEL FLIES TO THE TOP

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are heading for #1 on the Official Albums Chart with Who Built The Moon? (Sour Mash) shifting 57k combined sales at the halfway point. For anyone who's counting, that’s more than 20k short of what the Warner Bros. debut album from his rival brother Liam did during its first three days on sale in October.

Who Built the Moon? is the third record from NGHFB and follows two former #1s. 2015’s Chasing Yesterday sold 89k week one and the band’s self-titled set in 2011 tallied 122.5k opening week.

Little Mix are at #2 with a platinum edition of Glory Days (Syco), followed by Sam Smith with The Thrill of it All (Capitol) at #3.

A deluxe edition of Elvis Presley’s Christmas album with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, which was released in October by Sony Music CG, rises from outside the Top 100 to #4, and Michael Ball & Alfie Boe are down to #5 with Together Again (Decca).

Two more new entries might make the Top 10: violinist Andre Rieu is at #6 with Amore (Polydor) and Elbow are at #10 with retrospective The Best Of (Polydor).

On the Official Singles Chart, a three-horse race is currently being led by long front-runner Camila Cabello f/Young Thug with “Havana” (Polydor). Rita Ora is just 200 combined sales behind with “Anywhere” (Atlantic), and Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” (Atlantic), furthered by an X Factor performance, is at #3; look out for a remix of the track with a guest collaborator on Friday.

Marshmello with “Silence” f/Khalid (Ministry of Sound) is down one place to #4, followed by a new Top 5 entrant in “Man’s Not Hot” by Big Shaq, an act coming from Island’s urban division.

High new entries include James Arthur with “Naked” (Syco) at #6, thanks also in part to an X Factor semi-finals performance, and Clean Bandit and Julia Michaels’ collaboration “I Miss You” (Atlantic) entering the Top 10 at #7.
