Warner/Chappell has had an eventful week in Nashville, having been named ASCAP's Publisher of the Year for the fifth consecutive year and tallying 41 total awards from performing rights organizations. The new honors include 24 ASCAP Most Performed Song Awards, 11 BMI Top Song Awards and six SESAC Country Performance Activity Awards.

Pubco topper Jon Platt and W/C Nashville prez Ben Vaughn also had plenty of reason to celebrate with the CMAs. W/C songwriters took home six trophies, with awards going to Chris Stapleton, Brothers Osborne, Lee Miller, Steven Lee Olsen and Little Big Town.

In a highlight of the evening, the powerfully topical "Female" had an illustrious debut (performed by Capitol Nashville's Keith Urban); the song was co-written by W/C songwriter Nicolle Galyon. It's now #1 at iTunes.

Vaughn commented: “It is an honor and a privilege to work with the best songwriters and the best team in Nashville. It’s been an incredible week, and I am so proud of what our songwriters have achieved this year, and grateful to the Nashville community for their trust and tremendous support and recognition. I am especially thankful for the amazing encouragement from Jon Platt and our extended Warner/Chappell family—this week, this year, and always.”

Ben then strapped on his big ol' fake beard and continued to duck our calls.
