NEW DYLAN FILM GETS POP-UP RUN

Trouble No More, Jennifer Lebeau’s concert film of Bob Dylan during his “gospel period,” will be screened for one night only, Thursday, at Landmark Theatres in five U.S. cities. The film is part of Columbia Records/Legacy Recordings’ next Bootleg Series collection, which will be released Friday.

This film, shot by Ellen Kuras at shows in Toronto and Buffalo in the spring of 1980, will play in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago and San Francisco. It debuted at the New York Film Festival; this is the only opportunity to see the film on the big screen.

Columbia/ Legacy, which is presenting the screening with Abramorama in its first partnership with Sony Music, will release the film as a bonus DVD in the deluxe box set for Trouble No More: The Bootleg Series Vol. 13/1979-1981.

The film finds Dylan performing with a stellar band that included Spooner Oldham, Terry Young, Fred Tackett, Tim Drummond and Jim Keltner during a period when he turned his back on older material to concentrate on religious themes. He released Slow Train Coming (1979), Saved (1980) and Shot of Love (1981) during the period covered in the new set.
