MAGNUS' DAY: SWEDE STREAMS TO ATLANTIC U.K.

Warner Music U.K. has reached outside of Blighty to find a new GM for Atlantic Records in Swedish exec Magnus Ribbeklint, who will replace Mark Mitchell starting in January. Ribbeklint is a social media and streaming expert, and has been GM of Warner Music Sweden since 2016.

As we recently reported, Mitchell is moving across to lead Parlophone as co-President in the new year as Miles Leonard steps down.

Ribbeklint joins at a great time for Atlantic. Thanks in large part to Ed Sheeran's third album, it boasts a 9.3% share of the AES Artist Albums market YTD and is #1 on the imprint leaderboard.

Atlantic President Ben Cook said of his new appointment: “Magnus is a brilliant creative and digital strategist. Throughout the Nordic transition to streaming his foresight and expertise helped transform Warner Music Sweden into a global leader in social media, content and digital marketing. He joins us at a pivotal time for the U.K. industry. I’m confident he’ll help keep Atlantic at the leading edge of music’s on-going evolution.”

Ribbeklint began his career at Modern Times Group before joining Sony Music Entertainment Sweden as Marketing Director. After five years he went on to become Commercial and Marketing Director, Warner Music Sweden. During his tenure, the label has grown its market share by breaking more domestic artists and connecting fans on social media. He was promoted to GM WM Sweden in 2016 and took the additional title of VP Marketing Warner Music Nordics less than a year later.

“One of Ben’s many strengths as President is that he’s a real music man, and it’s this artist-centric approach that makes Atlantic a hub for exciting homegrown talent,” Ribbeklint said. “Together we're determined to deliver future-focused, global campaigns for the world class roster.”

In addition to redesigning the offices with IKEA furniture, Ribbeklint has already asked that the office Fuller’s ESB tap be replaced with aquavit.
