"DESPACITO" DUO UP FOR 4 LATIN GRAMMYS

The duo behind the crossover sensation “Despacito” received four Latin Grammy nominations Tuesday, coming in behind former Calle 13 member Residente, who earned nine, and Maluma with seven. Unlike those two, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee are not competing against themselves.

Maluma could only win three awards, having secured three nominations in each of the Record of the Year and Song of the Year categories. Residente is up for Album, Song and Record of the year as is Shakira, who received six nominations. She, too, is not competing against herself in any category.

For “Despacito,” Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s noms include Record and Song and Urban Performance for the remix with Justin Bieber.

The 18th Latin Grammys will be handed out 11/16 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and broadcast on the Univision Network. The Academy has brought in a ew production team that includes longtime Austin City Limits producer Terry Lickona.
