CORSON HEADED WEST

Tom Corson is moving from the presidency of RCA to a high-level job at Warner Bros. Records, according to a bare-bones story posted Monday evening in Page Six.

“He’s going to Warner Bros. and moving to L.A.,” the item, attributed to an unnamed source, began. “He’ll answer to Max Lousada and work within the [Len] Blavatnik system.”

Corson came on the radar as the protégé of Gil Friesen toward the end of the glory days of A&M. He went on to become an effective exec respected for his intelligence and acumen during gigs at Capitol, Columbia, Arista and J, the last two making him part of the Clive Davis coaching tree.

Variety added alleged details in its carefully worded, rapidly published coverage triggered by the Post item. In the piece, Shirley Halperin and Jem Aswad reported that current Chairman/CEO Cameron Strang is expected to stay on in some capacity.

Our spies tell us that what’s been reported thus far is only partially accurate. Stay tuned for the details of what's actually happening at the start of Corson’s next adventure.
